Comprehensive Skin Cancer Prevention and Early Detection
Our New Jersey dermatology clinic emphasizes comprehensive skin cancer screenings to help identify any potential issues at the earliest stages.
Advanced Diagnostic Tools
Our experienced dermatologists use advanced diagnostic tools like dermoscopy to detect early skin cancers. This tool allows us to magnify and evaluate suspicious moles or lesions with great accuracy, which helps in the early identification of melanoma, significantly improving outcomes and providing peace of mind to our patients.
Photodynamic Therapy
Preventing skin cancer involves more than screenings. We target actinic keratoses, a common precancerous condition, with photodynamic therapy. This technique is non-invasive and uses light-activated medication to eliminate damaged cells and help prevent progression to skin cancer.
Cryotherapy for Actinic Keratoses
Cryosurgery, also called cryotherapy or liquid nitrogen treatment, freezes and destroys the pre-cancerous skin cells of actinic keratoses. Actinic keratoses are precursors to squamous cell carcinoma. Cryotherapy is often employed to target individual pre-cancerous lesions, while we often use field therapies such as creams, photodynamic therapy, or Fraxel to address situations where pre-cancerous changes are extensive.
Precision with Mohs Micrographic Surgery
For cases requiring precise tissue preservation, we specialize in Mohs micrographic surgery to remove cancerous tissue layer by layer while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible. This approach is highly effective for treating skin cancers, particularly for certain types of basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.
Diverse Treatment Options
In addition to Mohs surgery, our dermatologists specialize in excisional surgery, electrodessication and curettage, and topical therapies to address a variety of skin cancers. In certain situations radiation therapy and/or systemic medications may be recommended.
When it comes to treating diagnosed skin cancers, our approach is comprehensive and tailored to each patient. We provide expert medical and surgical care, carefully selecting the most appropriate treatment based on the type, size, and location of the skin cancer.
