Aaron J Morgan, M.D.

Aaron J. Morgan, MD is Board Certified in Dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery.  He is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Dermatology, Fellow of the American Society of Mohs Surgery and member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.  Dr. Morgan is the Chief of the Department of Dermatology at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. He has been named a Jersey Choice Top Doctor in New Jersey Monthly’s annual survey of New Jersey physicians on multiple occasions. He was also honored to be called the Asbury Park Press 2022 Best of the Best Dermatologist in Monmouth County, one of the Newsweek America's Best Dermatologists for 2023 as well as a top Mohs Surgeon by NJ Monthly magazine for 2023.  

He attended Rutgers College and went on to complete the accelerated BA/MD program with New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Morgan then completed his internship at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. During his residency training in Dermatology, at University Hospital in Newark, NJ and at the East Orange VA Hospital, he served as chief resident. Dr. Morgan has also done research in genetics and biochemistry, as well as publishing in various journals. His areas of interest include general and pediatric dermatology, skin cancer prevention and treatment, especially Mohs Micrographic Surgery. Most importantly, Dr. Morgan enjoys and takes pride in his work.

Marc Zachary Handler, M.D.

Zac Handler, M.D. is a board-certified academic dermatologist and acclaimed lecturer. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Handler is also an assistant clinical professor in dermatology at Rutgers University New Jersey Medical School. He served as a Fellow in the United States House of Representatives, and crafted cost-neutral legislation to combat HIV infection. He has received the Congressional Recognition Award three times, from bipartisan House members for his work on health care policy, and was named a Nebraska Admiral, by the Governor of the State of Nebraska, in recognition of service to the community. He has experience with medical news production, having worked with Sanjay Gupta, M.D. at CNN’s medical unit, assisting with medical programming. Additionally, he has been a medical contributor for the Discovery Health program, “Dr. G: Medical Examiner”.

Dr. Handler is a recipient of the prestigious Tatotsu Imaeda M.D. Ph.D. Academic Scholar Award for his extensive academic work, which includes greater than 30 peer-reviewed publications and 5 book chapters. Dr. Handler is the only person to be first author on back-to-back cover articles in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, the leading American journal in the specialty of dermatology.

Focused on improving health care access both locally and abroad, Dr. Handler has provided volunteer medical care with Project MediShare in earthquake stricken Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  His experience in Haiti led to an invitation to assist the House Foreign Affairs Committee, in Washington, D.C., on USAID expenditures. He has since been a volunteer physician at the HIV hospital in Accra, Ghana and a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in Hoboken, New Jersey. Dr. Handler has been an invited guest lecturer around the globe, including Montenegro, New York, Miami, Kuwait, Iran, and Jordan. Dr. Handler holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, San Diego, and received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Nebraska. Dr. Handler completed a research fellowship in pediatric dermatology at the University of Miami with department chairman, Dr. Lawrence Schachner, author of Pediatric Dermatology. He completed his residency in dermatology at Rutgers University with Dr. Robert A. Schwartz, providing needed care for the underserved patients of Newark, New Jersey and military veterans at the East Orange Veterans hospital. He was selected to serve as the program’s Chief Resident his senior year. He completed a Mohs micrographic surgery and Procedural Dermatology fellowship at Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of NY and NJ, under the direction of Dr. David J. Goldberg.

Gina Ashforth, M.D.

Gina Ashforth, MD is a Board-Certified Dermatologist. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Rutgers University and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from UMDNJ. She earned her medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and served for one year as a dermatology research fellow, authoring over 30 publications in peer-reviewed medical journals and dermatology textbooks.

After medical school, Dr. Ashforth completed her internship at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and was the recipient of the COVID-19 leadership award for excellence in clinical duties during the initial response of the COVID-19 pandemic. She then went to complete dermatology residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Department of Dermatology and at the Veterans Affairs hospital in East Orange, NJ. She was chosen to serve as chief resident during her final year of residency.

Dr. Ashforth (maiden name Francisco) was born and raised in Monmouth County and is proud to return to the area to serve her community as a general dermatologist. Her hobbies include cooking, art, and spending time with her husband and two children.

David Hashemi, M.D.

Dr. David Hashemi is a Harvard-trained Dermatologist with dual fellowship training in both Mohs Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatology. He completed his fellowship training at the largest surgical and cosmetic dermatology practice in New York City, where he trained with Dr. Roy Geronemus (a pioneer in both Mohs surgery and laser/cosmetic dermatology) and a team of renowned New York plastic surgeons in complex post-Mohs reconstruction.

Dr. Hashemi has trained at several of the most respected hospitals in the nation. He completed Dermatology residency across all Harvard hospitals, including Massachusetts General, Brigham and Women's, Beth Israel Deaconess, and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Prior to that he completed internship year at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, medical school at the University of Pennsylvania, and post-baccalaureate studies at Johns Hopkins University, after earning his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a degree in Economics, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Chicago. Within Cutaneous Oncology, this training puts him in the unique position of having trained at 2 of the nation's top 3 cancer centers.

Within cosmetics and lasers, Dr. Hashemi is the only Dermatologist in the nation to have trained both at Harvard / Massachusetts General Hospital and at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York. As a result, he crafted his cosmetic and surgical skills under several of the pioneers in the field, with most lasers and cosmetic technologies originating from Harvard/MGH, and many of the leading cosmetic trials and techniques pioneered by Dr. Geronemus. Dr. Hashemi has and continues to work closely with multiple past presidents of Dermatology's leading bodies (AAD, ASDS, ASLMS), as well as many of the most innovative companies in the field.

Combined, this comprehensive and well-rounded training allows Dr. Hashemi to provide patients with the best and most natural-looking outcomes possible, both in Mohs surgery and in taking care of patients' cosmetic needs. He provides his patients with the full range of dermatologic surgery procedures at the highest level, including Mohs surgery, excisions, lasers, and injectables including neuromodulators and fillers.

Meaghan Gavan, PA-C

Meaghan Gavan PA-C is a Physician Assistant board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Delaware and went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Seton Hall University in 2013.  During her last year of PA school, she served as a graduate assistant for the first and second year PA students.  She assisted in research and provided tutoring to the students as they navigated the didactic and clinical training.  Meaghan was inducted into Seton Hall’s chapter of Alpha Eta Society, the national scholastic honor society for allied health professionals.  She was also inducted into the PI Alpha National Honor Society for Physician Assistants which recognizes one’s academic achievements, leadership, research and community/professional service.  She was presented with the Research reward for the Seton Hall Physician Assistant program in 2013. 

Prior to joining Morgan Dermatology in 2016, she spent several years working in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery. She has comprehensive training and specializes in both medical and cosmetic dermatology.

Her interests consist of skin cancer screenings and treatment, acne, psoriasis, skin and hair rejuvenation as well as cosmetic procedures including neurotoxins, fillers, and lasers. She is an active member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) and American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), and American Academy of Dermatology (AAD).

Lauren Campisano, MS, PA-C

Lauren Campisano, MS, PA-C is a board-certified Physician Assistant. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from The College of New Jersey, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude before pursuing a master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies from Rutgers University. During her time at Rutgers, Lauren was an academic and service scholarship recipient and volunteered at the FOCUS medical clinic for uninsured patients. After graduation, she gained valuable experience working in Emergency Medicine prior to joining Morgan Dermatology, where she was trained personally by Dr Morgan.

Lauren is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) and completed additional coursework to achieve the Diplomate Fellow distinction with the SDPA. She also holds membership in the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) DermCare Team. Lauren is excited to return to Morgan Dermatology after two years away practicing in Los Angeles, CA. She takes great pride in her work and strives to provide empathetic and thorough care to all her patients. She treats patients of all ages and has particular interest in acne, inflammatory skin conditions including eczema and psoriasis, and skin cancer prevention and treatment.

Carley Blewett, PA-C

Carley Blewett is a Board certified Physician Assistant. She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences at Seton Hall University in 2014, and then with her Master’s of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Seton Hall University in 2018. During her time at Seton Hall University, Carley served as a founding member of Saving Mothers, an organization geared towards educating and aiding expecting mothers in underserved countries. She was also a proud member of the Global Medical Brigades which is a student-led movement for global health, providing for those in areas with little to no access to healthcare. 

After completing her education at Seton Hall, Carley remained an active participant with the Physician Assistant program, participating in both clinical training and admissions. She gained several years of experience working as a Physician Assistant in Urgent Care and Emergency Medicine prior to starting at Morgan Dermatology, where she was trained extensively in medical and cosmetic dermatology by Dr. Morgan, and has completed rigorous coursework to became a Diplomate Fellow of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA). 

Carley is an active member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA), the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), and the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). She specializes in medical and cosmetic dermatology, treating both adult and pediatric patients. Carley is especially passionate about skin cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. She is determined to provide individualized and optimized care to each patient she encounters. 

Kelsey Burger, MS PA-C

Kelsey Burger MS PA-C is a board-certified Physician Assistant. She received both her Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences in 2015, and Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 2017 at Seton Hall University.

After completing her education, Kelsey worked in her home state of Connecticut and gained experience in both Urgent Care and Hospital Medicine before moving back to New Jersey and starting with Morgan Dermatology. During her time in Connecticut, she served as Lead Physician Assistant in her Urgent Care position. In her role she completed public relations and media news training. She was featured on CT Fox, NBC, and CBS news many times as a local health care expert.

Upon returning to New Jersey, she trained extensively in medical and cosmetic dermatology under the direction of Dr. Morgan. She also completed intensive coursework to become a Diplomate Fellow with the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA). She is a proud member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, American Academy of Dermatology, and the Society of Dermatologic Physician Assistants. She is especially interested in acne treatment and the early detection and treatment of skin malignancies in both pediatric and adult patient populations.
